THE MAKING OF ENGELBIRD
Engelbird is an ostrich.
To be more precise: An ostrich bird.
Long story: Even grandpa Engelbert chose birds over flowers – the ostrich has adorned the family logo for a hundred years. In the 1970s, his son Norbert developed the original cartoon: A Proto-Engelbird points out bargains in the Strauss catalogues with wit and foresight.
FROM LOGO TO LEGEND
The logo ostrich shed some of its feathers in 2020 – on the way to becoming a global brand, grandsons Steffen and Henning introduced an iconic, minimalist logo.
In 2025, the bird celebrated its cartoon comeback: Engelbird is born. It was created by renowned Disney artist Ken Duncan from California.
Engelbird builds bridges
The Engelbird mascot now gives the brand its feathered look. It's a big hit with the children anyway. And Engelbird has a very strategic advantage when it comes to global expansion. It makes clear worldwide and across language barriers: The Strauss is an ostrich/avestruz/dachou.
